I said I was going to start updating my blog more often, then I take almost a month long break... geesh!
We got around to hanging the Spaghetti chandelier. I couldn't be more happy with it.
As I mentioned, I was nervous about painting over the antique brass. After spending about 20 minutes in the spray paint isle I stumbled across a dark glossy grey that was worth a shot. Long story short, it's the icing on the cake.. or umm, the parm on the spaghetti?!
This room is still far from done. It needs art above the bed (which is already taken care of, just not in this picture), the nightstands need more styling, the closet needs finished, and the there is an entire blank wall to dress up.
We also added a ceiling medallion. I just think a light feels naked without one. Brady hates them. But he will survive.
A blog about life, our family and our journey of turning our fixer upper into a stylish home.

Craving some Spaghetti!
My Mom n I stopped at a garage sale last weekend and I found the most amazing light. It's an acrylic Spaghetti Lamp from the 1960's. $25! It was too dated for the sellers homes, but it will feel right at home in my house!
I'm hoping to get it hung up tonight. The delay.... Brady vetoed the antique brass. Sad face. I love it so much just as it is. But it's his house too. He rarely has an opinion on my decor choices so I figured I'd better let him win this one. He took it outside n sprayed the brass white. I think I'm regretting letting him touch my new found love, but I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it.
It's going to hang over the bed in the basement guest bedroom. The acrylic goes well with the acrylic knobs on the yellow dresser..
This is the nightmare of a mess that I am dealing with in this bedroom. That's what happens when Brady's friends spend the night. At least hanging a new chandelier makes washing the bedding seem a bit more exciting.

..You make me happy when skies are grey..
Hey sunshine!.. speaking of my new dresser of course.
1st, I have to show the before..
This little guy was $5 at a garage sale. I was so excited when I found it. Brady was not so much, he stomped his feet and pouted the whole time he loaded it up into the truck... "you don't need anymore dressers" Psshhh wtv, Brady!
Perhaps he just knew that he would be the one who'd have to paint it. I can pretty much pull the pregnancy card whenever I want, especially when it comes to paint fumes.
4 cans of primer and 5 cans of yellow spray paint (yellow didn't want to hide the flaws for some reason? or we're just not an experts on spraying furniture..) and a lacquer finish later.... He's got a nice home in our guest bedroom. He does a great job housing all of my xmas bows, ribbon, cards, gift boxes, etc. I guess I did need another dresser after all!
I think I'm growing an obsession with junky old furniture. I am currently on the hunt yet another dresser to go in my new basement office.. Anyone want to take a trip to the Salvation Army with me!?

Take that David Bromstead!
hah! I'm an artist!
I love HGTV and I love Color Splash. Whenever I watch David Bromstead paint his canvas art for each home, I think, "hmmm, I can do that!"
So last Saturday, my Mom and I went out to Micheals and picked up 4 blank canvas (all 40% off with my coupon!) and a few cheapie acrylic paints (all on sale for 1/2 off!) and a spray bottle. *I never pay full price for anything at Micheals*. The Sunday paper always has coupons, or if you join their email list, you get weekly coupons!
I only used 3 of the four canvas boards(as shown). I just wiped on the paint, sprayed it a few times with water to blend, and let it dry! It was sooo easy. I still need to spray some sort of protective coat over it and sign my name on the bottom. I'll post more pix once it's complete.

Also, here are a few updated pix of the buffet! It's finally cleared of tax paper work, bills and a few wintery decorations(which I was so glad to box up).
I got that sweet black and white ball at Real Deals. I <3 that store! And for some reason we have pool balls lying around the house.. it just seemed to work on my wine tray. But, let's get to the important part of this pic..the wine! House Wine is delish, affordable and in my opinion, looks great in my house! It's my go to bottle from Albertsons.
