Craving some Spaghetti!

My Mom n I stopped at a garage sale last weekend and I found the most amazing light.  It's an acrylic Spaghetti Lamp from the 1960's.  $25!  It was too dated for the sellers homes, but it will feel right at home in my house!

Love at first sight

just waiting to be hung
I'm hoping to get it hung up tonight.  The delay.... Brady vetoed the antique brass.  Sad face.  I love it so much just as it is.  But it's his house too.  He rarely has an opinion on my decor choices so I figured I'd better let him win this one.  He took it outside n sprayed the brass white.  I think I'm regretting letting him touch my new found love, but I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it.

It's going to hang over the bed in the basement guest bedroom.  The acrylic goes well with the acrylic knobs on the yellow dresser..

this room really needs a chandy!
This is the nightmare of a mess that I am dealing with in this bedroom.   That's what happens when Brady's friends spend the night.   At least hanging a new chandelier makes washing the bedding seem a bit more exciting.

Shangrila Side Table

A few weeks back I picked up a junky old side table from a garage sale.  I think my Mom, Dad and the guy selling thought I was a bit crazy for wanting it.. But I saw some cool details and couldn't resist!  It has an overlay carving on the front, sweet brass medallion-ish handles and brass caps on the legs.  Plus, it was nothing a fresh coat of paint couldn't fix!  I got a deal too.. they were asking $5 but I got it for $4! hah

UMM, SCORE!

Check out the cool light fixtures that I bought at a garage sale a few weeks back.  I got all three for $2.  Yes, that's right, $2 total.  They instantly reminded me of sputnik lights and I had to have them for my laundry room.  I actually didn't want the little one on the right, but the guy threw it it just to get rid of it.  I figured it'd be nice just in case a bulb breaks.. And it's a good thing, because only a few days later we heard a click and a crash coming from the room they are currently stored in... Koko had knocked one over when jumping on the bed.   I sometimes wonder how much easier life would be with out dogs?  Probably pretty boring though..

Here they are..
And here a few Sputnik lights that I found online...  They are a little different, but close enough for me.

this one can be purchased over at Overstock.com for $194.

Saturday mornings are for Garage sales!

Since the weather has warmed up a bit, I've been woken up every Saturday morning around 8AM (TOO EARLY) by either my Mom or Dad asking if I want to go to garage sales.  I always say no (very crabby at 8AM), hang up, try to go back to sleep, then admit defeat about 30 minutes later, call them back and tell them to come get me!  I am a sucker for junk.. I get it from my parents.  They are Veteran Garbage Sale goers.. Oh did I just say Garbage?  lol
I find the coolest things for my house..I have to hunt like crazy, but I always end the morning with something cool.. like this vintage lamp I picked up for $3 last weekend..  Of course it came with a junky old golden shade, but it was easy enough to stop by Target and get a new $9 lamp shade!  Total cost a for a unique and awesome lamp..$12.  :)

Speaking of garage sales.. my parents are having a block sale tomorrow.. I will have all kinds of old Pier 1 things, 2 dining tables, a bazillion dining chairs, a treadmill.. stop by :)
